Biography

Mr. Sohmen is a dedicated educator and the Co-Founder of YK Pao School in Shanghai, a pioneering not-for-profit school named after his grandfather Sir YK Pao, the renowned Hong Kong businessman and philanthropist. YK Pao School was one of the first schools to allow Chinese students and international students to study together, offering a unique bilingual educational program pioneering an international approach in delivering the Chinese curriculum and cultural studies alongside a focus on whole person education.

Philip also serves on the board of the Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation, Feng Zikai Chinese Children’s Picture Book Award and the China Advisory Group of Oxford University. He is the Co-Founder of ChinaOne.Ningbo, China’s most successful professional high-speed sailing team. He is a graduate of Eton College, Oxford University and Stanford University, also formerly competing internationally in swimming for Hong Kong.
